Sketchabilities Sketch #103
Hey everyone. Here's my take on Sketchabilities #103 sketch. I used Basic Grey's 'Carte Postale' collection. The pattern paper, metal clip, snippets, chipboard button and letter stickers are all from the collection. For the background I lightly brushed some gesso on. Once that dried I sprayed some distress stain on and then wiped it with a damp paper towel. I then splattered some of the distress satin and made some big splats with the dabber. The picture is one my daughter took when out whale watching with her father. After several trips they finally saw an Orca whale. One check off the bucket list!! Below are some close ups. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

My Mind's Eye November Sketch Challenge
Hey everyone. Here's my entry to My Mind's Eye November sketch challenge. I used the 'Collectable - Remarkable' line/brads. I white washed the back ground sheet with gesso and once everything was attached I brushed a little more over some of the pieces. For the title, I cut 3 pieces of each number and glued them together to give the impression of chipboard. I then covered them with glossy accents. Below are some close ups. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Hey everyone. Here's my take on My Mind's Eye October Sketch Challenge. I used paper and brads from the 'Collectable' line as well as washi tape from 'The Sweetest Thing' line. The 'I Love Cows' tag came from a t-shirt I bought that weekend. Staples helped hold the flags and bakers twine down. Some Dylusions spray from Ranger and machine stitching completed the page. Below are some close ups. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. Michelle

Creative Scrappers Sketch #253
Hey everyone. Here's my layout based on Creative Scrappers sketch #253. When my daughter was finished this particular dressage test, her horse Hugo also decided to salute at the end. It was quite funny. I used Teresa Collins 'He Said, She Said' collection along with some of their stickers. The brads were from Basic Grey and the spray ink was from Ranger. Below are some close ups. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. Michelle
Creative Scrappers Sketch # 252
Hey everyone. Here is my take on Creative Scrappers #252 sketch. The pictures were taken by my niece one afternoon. I saw them on Facebook and asked if I could scrap them. I used My Mind's Eye 'Collectable' paper and the matching brads. I fussy cut the flowers and then rolled a stylus along the under side to make them pop a bit. It's hard to believe but I only used one sheet of pattern paper for this layout. The fabric Thickers were from American Crafts. Some stitching, bling and splatters completed the page. Some close ups are below. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. Michelle

Cavendish Music Festival
Hey everyone. Here's a layout I did for a class at Shabby Shutters . I used Simple Stories 'Say Cheese'
collection. What a fun paper line to use. Too bad I didn't have Disney pictures. Instead I decided to scrapbook the pictures I have from the Cavendish Music Festival in PEI. What a time we had. The entertainment was awesome. This is the first of 3 layouts I will be doing. I also used the brads from the collection as well as some wooden stars from Studio Calico. I absolutely love these little things!!!
I added some splatters and stitching as well. The tickets were cut out from a piece of paper from the line and the viewfinder was cut out using Tim Holtz's die from Sizzix. I first covered a piece of chipboard with glue and then scrunched up some old tissue patterns on the chipboard. I then let it dry before cutting it out. Cool technique. The top of the layout is just strips of paper layered on top of one another. The inspiration for this layout came from a layout seen in Creating Keepsakes Sept/Oct 2013 by Shelly Jacquet. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. ~Michelle

PageMaps' BasicGrey Capture Sketch Challenge
Hey everyone. Here is my entry to the PageMaps' Basic Grey Capture sketch challenge. The pictures are of me and my daughter. I can count on one hand the number of layouts I have created that feature me. When Sam asked what I wanted for Mother's Day this year, I told her I wanted pictures of us. With her schedule and the weather, we didn't get around to it until June. I used Bobunny's 'Prairie Chic' paper line along with some of their Double Dot cardstock. The splatters were made using Faded Jeans and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I dabbed the inks on my craft mat and with a wet brush I picked up some of the color and then flicked it on the cardstock. Didn't completely clean my brushes, so some of the perfect pearls that I used last, were transferred to the splatters!! I embossed some script on to parts of the pattern paper, using a stamp from Hero Arts. The denim and cardstock spiral flowers were hand cut. The denim came from an old pair of jeans of Sam's. I also cut out a few circles and popped them up on the pattern paper. Some stitching, pearls and of course bling, completed the layout. Below is a copy of the sketch and some close ups. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

That Special Grad
Hey everyone. Here's a layout in honor of that special grad. It's another class I taught at Shabby Shutters. I used Teresa Collins's 'Summer Stories' paper line. The title was embossed with ultra thick embossing powder. Some of the circles were popped up. Splatters, washi tape, buttons and photo corners completed the layout. This layout was based on one from My Mind's Eye's blog. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Spring blossoms
Hey everyone. Just wanted to share another class I taught at Shabby Shutters. I used Pink Paislee's 'Hope Chest' collection. The flowers were cut using Tim Holtz's tattered floral die (one of my go to flower dies). For the burlap flowers, I brushed some Mod Podge on the burlap first and after it dried I cut the flowers out. The Mod Podge keeps the burlap from fraying. I have heard that you can also use a 50:50 tacky glue/water combo. Haven't tried that yet though. I layered 2-3 of the flowers and added some buttons and hand cut crumpled leaves. Some stitching on the corners completed the layout .This layout is based on a couple of PageMaps sketches. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Sunflowers
Hey everyone. Here's another class I taught at Shabby Shutters. I used We R Memory Keepers 'Antique Chic' collection. The colors matched perfectly with the sunflower pictures I took last summer. The sunflower on the page was made from sticky back canvas. The canvas was cut with Tim Holtz's tattered floral die and then inked with distress ink. Some stitching, buttons and a cute wire bird from Maya Road finishes off the page. The inspiration for this layout was a PageMaps sketch. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Easter
Hey everyone. I'm a bit late getting this up. It was a easter layout class at Shabby Shutters. I used Authentique's 'Hope' collection. I absolutely love this company's pattern paper. The thickness, texture and vintage patterns.........Beautiful. The larger flowers were made from folded circles. The smaller ones were all made by crumpling and layering punched flowers. This layout was based on a PageMaps sketch. Some stitching and liquid pearls finished this page off. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

PageMaps Lily Bee Sketch Contest
Hey everyone. Here is my entry for PageMaps Lily Bee sketch contest. I used My Mind's Eye 'Indie Chic' paper and buttons. The paper roses were cut using Spellbinders bitty blossoms die. The burlap roses were made by brushing some Mod Podge onto a piece of burlap, cutting out a spiral circle and then rolling it up. The Mod Podge keeps the edges of the burlap from fraying. Very easy and very cute!! Some washi tape, stitching and ink splatters (my new fav technique) completed the layout. Below are some close ups and the sketch. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. ~Michelle

Birthday Layout
Hey everyone. Here's a recent class I taught at Shabby Shutters. I used Bobunny's 'Surprise' collection. This line is just so much fun!! It's perfect for kiddy celebrations of any kind. It's hard to tell from the above picture, but all the confetti on the left hand side is enclosed in vellum that is stitched down. A fun technique I found on Scrapbook and Cards Today blog. The banners are also stitched down. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

PageMaps On the Border Challenge
Hey everyone. Here's my entry for PageMaps On the Border Challenge. I used Teresa Collins 'Summer Stories' collection for this layout. Because it is featuring none other than Mr. Tim Holtz I decided to use some of his products. The buttons, paper clip and word stick are from his Ideology line. The little camera was made from grunge paper and cut using one of his Mover and Shaper dies. It was colored with distress ink and stains. The little ticket stub is one of his Stamper Anonymous stamps. Below is a close up and a copy of the sketch. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.
