2019

Hey everyone. The last challenge of the year at The Studio Challenges is up on their blog today. It's a year in review challenge. I decided to create a page about the milestones our family had this year. My niece graduated from high school. Ma and Pa celebrated their 50th anniversary. My daughter got married and announced they are expecting baby number 2!!! So much to be grateful and thankful for!! I used the beautiful 'Auburn Lane' collection from Pink Paislee for this layout. There was lots of fussy cutting involved but so worth it. There's a bit of watered down distress ink on the background, finished off with gold color shine splatters. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!!!

Hey Santa

Hey everyone. There's a Christmas tradition challenge at The Studio Challenges blog today. I decided to create a page about a new tradition for our family. My grandson visiting Santa. It didn't go so well last year, so hopefully it won't be a short lived tradition!! I used the 'Holly Jolly' line from Simple Stories for this layout. For the background I applied watered down distress ink and then splattered some watered down gesso. You have to look very closely to see the gesso splatters so when I was finished I splattered some white colour shine. This is easier to see and also adds a bit of shimmer to the page. The greenery was cut out with dies from Sizzix and the snowflakes with dies from Spellbinders. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Family

Hey everyone. I have another sketch challenge from The Studio Challenges to share with you. I used a new collection from Photoplay called 'We Are Family'. What a beautiful line!! For the background I first applied a layer of modelling paste through a Carta Bella stencil. Watered down distress ink was then applied with a piece of plastic and a brush. Below are some close ups and the sketch. Thanks for stopping by.

So Much Joy In This Little Boy

Hey everyone. I have my take on the November challenge from Scrap the Boys to share today. The challenge was to scrap a super hero in your life or use the graphic as inspiration. I decided to use the graphic as inspiration. I used the 'You Rock' line from Photoplay Paper and wood veneer stars from Jillibean Soup. For the background I applied watered down water colour markers from American Crafts. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

There's No Place Like Home

Hey everyone. I'm so excited to share my first layout as a guest designer for Scrapbook Your Joy!! They are an online scrapbook store out of Ontario. Today I'm using the 'Home Again' collection from Carta Bella. Love this line and Carta Bella!! I used lots of ephemera, frames and tags, enamel dots and chipboard stickers. The flowers and wreaths were fussy cut from pattern paper. I love the quote that was part of the cut apart strips and had to use it on this page.  Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more pages where I use this beautiful collection.

Don't Grow Up It's A Trap

Hey everyone. This month at The Studio Challenges there's a Now and Then/Before and After challenge. I decided to do a page of my grandson showing how he has grown in just a year. That little baby face has turned into a cute little boy. I used Simple Stories' 'Lil Dude' collection for this page. I applied gesso to the pattern paper first to soften the colours and then added watered down distress ink with the packaging technique. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Fall Blessings

Hey everyone. I have this month's first challenge from The Studio Challenges to share with you today. It's a mood board challenge. I was inspired by the leaves, pumpkins and the gorgeous colours. I used Echo Park Paper's 'A Perfect Autumn' collection. For the background I applied some modelling paste through a stencil (it's hard to see) and then applied a few layers of colour with the packaging technique and a brush. I dried the ink between the layers. Below is the challenge and some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Stay Wild My Child

Hey everyone. I was asked to be a guest designer at the Sketchy Boards Challenge Facebook group this month!! Super excited to be asked by them!! I really love their challenges. For the October challenge you were to use gears and the sketch. I had this photo of my grandson on his balance bike which I thought would be perfect to use with gears. I used Jillibean Soup's '2 Cool for School' line, which has pattern paper with gears, so I of course fussy cut a bunch out. I also had some metal gears from Prima which I attached with brads. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Make sure to check them out on Facebook. You don't need a blog to enter, just message them your layout. There's lots of inspiration to be found. Thanks for stopping by.
