My Kind of Day

Hey everyone. I have my take on this month's sketch at The Studio Challenges to share with you today. Because it's February it features lots of hearts. I used Vicki Boutin's 'Color Kaleidoscope' collection for this page. All of the hearts and butterflies were fussy cut from pattern paper. Below is the sketch and some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

The Boys

Hey everyone. There's a fun shape challenge at The Studio Challenges today. You are to use 3 squares, 2 circles and 1 triangle. I used 3 larger squares of pattern paper behind my photo. For the circles I used 1 flair button and 1 punched circle and for the triangle I used a flag with the word fun. I used the 'Legendary' collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio for this page of my grandson and his dad. For the background I totally scrap lifted a page from Vicki Boutin. Using distress ink I first applied some with the packaging technique. I then stencil stamped and stamped with the ink. I also stamped using the same colour in distress paint. Finally I added splatters with watered down distress ink. Absolutely love how it turned out. For added texture I also added some cheese cloth behind half of my photo. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Everyday Moments

Hey everyone. Happy National Scrapbooking Day/Weekend!!! Hope you had a chance to take part in some of the activities. There was A LOT happening!! I took part in some of the fun at Cocoa Vanilla Studio and will be sharing those pages in the next couple days. Today I have a layout that was inspired by the Tic Tac Toe challenge at The Studio Challenges. I went with the right side column which was enamel dots, washi tape and tag. I used Vicki Boutin's 'Let's Wander' collection for this page of my daughter and grandson. Love this line!! For the background I used watered down art crayons and applied the colour with the packaging technique and stencil stamping. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy Today

Hey everyone. There's a fun new challenge at The Studio Challenges today. It's a 5-4-3-2-1 challenge. You use 5 of one item, 4 of another etc. For this page of my grandson, niece and best dog in the world, I used the following:

5: butterflies
4: photos
3: flowers, chipboard word stickers, staples
2: hearts, art crayons
1: banner, ephemera title

I used Vicki Boutin's 'Wildflower and Honey' collection from American Crafts. This line is one of my favourites. I love the colours, patterns and ephemera. For the background I applied some watered down art crayons with the packaging technique and through a stencil with a brush. I then applied lots of splatters. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Girl

Hey everyone. There's a tricky challenge at The Studio Challenges today. You are to use only one sheet of pattern paper. I was a little nervous when I first saw the challenge but then found this gorgeous floral paper with a fun stripe on the back. I was also able to use the thin strip on top of the paper. I was able to mat my photos with what was left. No scraps to store from this sheet. There was only tiny bits left. Lots of mixed media on the background also helped to save the day. The paper was from Vicki Boutin's 'Wildflower and Honey' collection. This collection is STUNNING!! There are a ton of embellishments as well. For the background I first added watered down art crayons with the packaging technique. I then added dry art crayons with a stencil brush through a stencil. I then taped up a word stencil so that only the words I wanted were visible. I then added dry gold glaze with a stencil brush through that stencil. Love how it turned out!! Thanks for stopping by.

Simply the Best

Hey everyone. I have my take on the title and journaling challenge at The Studio Challenges, to share with you today. We were to really tell the story behind the photo we chose and use 2 types of alphas in the title. I wrote about this lovely lady and how I spent National Scrapbooking Day. I used some ephemera and my handwriting for the title. I used Vicki's 'Field Notes' collection for this layout. There was lots of fussy cutting and mixed media involved. Love this collection and how the page turned out!! Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Say Cheese

Hey everyone. Hard to believe we are half way through July. I have the first July challenge from The Studio Challenges to share with you today. The challenge was to use stars and stripes on our layouts. I added some cute little wood veneer stars from Jillibean Soup and a striped piece of ephemera below my photo. Not sure if the ring above my photo and the border around the layout can be considered striped or not. I used Vicki Boutin's 'Color Kaleidoscope' collection for this page of us on Mother's Day. This layout was also inspired by the June Sketch from Jana McCarthy on VB's Mixed Media Community on Facebook. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Color Outside the Lines

Hey everyone. I have my last reveal for the Scrap Our Stash design team to share with you today. It's for the June Pick Your Side Sketch Challenge. I went with the right side of the sketch. I layered polka dot paper behind two of my photos and added number stickers as well. I used Vicki Boutin's 'Color Kaleidoscope' collection. When I saw the pen and pencil ephemera and the color outside the lines tag, I knew I had to use it for this layout. I also used her watercolor markers and silver glaze for the background. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

My Happiness

Hey everyone. Got another Saturday Cartoon Sketch Challenge from Scrap Our Stash to share with you today. I chose to use rainbow colours on my page. This is one of my favourite photos of my daughter and grandson. I used Cocoa Vanilla's new 'Happiness' collection. This line is so beautiful!! I used Vicki Boutin's new watercolour markers for the background. A little certainly goes a long way with these markers. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.
