Enjoy Today

Hey everyone. There's a fun new challenge at The Studio Challenges today. It's a 5-4-3-2-1 challenge. You use 5 of one item, 4 of another etc. For this page of my grandson, niece and best dog in the world, I used the following:

5: butterflies
4: photos
3: flowers, chipboard word stickers, staples
2: hearts, art crayons
1: banner, ephemera title

I used Vicki Boutin's 'Wildflower and Honey' collection from American Crafts. This line is one of my favourites. I love the colours, patterns and ephemera. For the background I applied some watered down art crayons with the packaging technique and through a stencil with a brush. I then applied lots of splatters. Below are some close ups. Good Times

Hey everyone. This week at The Studio Challenges there is a grid design challenge. I used an older collection from my stash called 'Fresh Cut' from Basic Grey for this page of my niece and one of her besties. Watercolour markers from American Crafts were watered down and applied to the background. Lots of stitching and layering were also added.  Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey everyone. There's a word challenge up on The Studio Challenges blog today. You are to use a scrappy item for each letter in the word heart. I used the following:

H: hemp, hearts
E: enamel dots, ephemera
A: American Crafts, art crayons
R: red
T: thread, tag, tape (washi)

I used an older collection from Simple Stories called 'Vintage Blessings' for this page of my grandson. There's lots of layering on this page with art crayons on the background. Below are some close ups. Thanks for stopping by.

You Are Pretty Awesome

Hey everyone. I want to share my take on the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges. For this one you were to start with half a sheet of pattern paper on the background, and the rest was up to you. I used Photoplay Paper's 'Free Bird' collection for this page. The photo is of my daughter and grandson having breakfast on the morning of her wedding. I'm glad at least one of us was so chill and relaxed that morning!! Winter Days

Hey everyone. I have my take on the first challenge of the year at The Studio Challenges. It's a colour palette challenge. Such beautiful rich colours. I used the Winter Farmhouse collection from Simple Stories for this page of my daughter. I applied some watered down distress ink to the background and added lots of splatters. My daughter loves stocking hats and her favourite thing about winter is being able to wear them. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey everyone. The last challenge of the year at The Studio Challenges is up on their blog today. It's a year in review challenge. I decided to create a page about the milestones our family had this year. My niece graduated from high school. Ma and Pa celebrated their 50th anniversary. My daughter got married and announced they are expecting baby number 2!!! So much to be grateful and thankful for!! I used the beautiful 'Auburn Lane' collection from Pink Paislee for this layout. There was lots of fussy cutting involved but so worth it. There's a bit of watered down distress ink on the background, finished off with gold color shine splatters. Below are some close ups. Hey Santa

Hey everyone. There's a Christmas tradition challenge at The Studio Challenges blog today. I decided to create a page about a new tradition for our family. My grandson visiting Santa. It didn't go so well last year, so hopefully it won't be a short lived tradition!! I used the 'Holly Jolly' line from Simple Stories for this layout. For the background I applied watered down distress ink and then splattered some watered down gesso. You have to look very closely to see the gesso splatters so when I was finished I splattered some white colour shine. This is easier to see and also adds a bit of shimmer to the page. The greenery was cut out with dies from Sizzix and the snowflakes with dies from Spellbinders. Below are some close ups.
