Hey everyone. This week at The Studio Challenges there is a selfie challenge. I don't know about you,

but I am rarely in any of the layouts I create. I am usually the one behind the camera (if not stealing photos off my daughter/niece's phones) so it's nice from time to time to create a page with me in it. I recently took an on line photography class, and snapped these selfies of myself and faithful companion Beau, while trying out the tips I learned. I used two lines from Carta Bella called 'Let It Snow' and 'Cabin Fever'. For the background I applied watered down distress ink with the packaging technique and allowed some of the ink to drip. I then stamped some snowflakes with the same ink and misted the stamp with some water. I love the effect this creates. I would also like to welcome the newest members of the our design team. My Heart Is Full

 

Hey everyone. This week's challenge at The Studio Challenges is all about hexagons. I used a collection from Fancy Pants called 'Good Ol' Days' for this page of my two adorable grandsons. For the background I applied watered down distress ink with the packaging technique, as well as some stamping. I ended up covering most of it up, but you can see some peeking through. Let the Snow Begin

Hey everyone. There's a sketch challenge at The Studio Challenges today. I used Echo Park Paper's 'A Perfect Winter' line for this layout of my grandson out in the first snow of the season. For the background I applied some modelling paste through a stencil, and then added some watered down distress ink with the packaging technique. I then added lots of splatters. Hey Santa

Hey everyone. There's a Christmas tradition challenge at The Studio Challenges blog today. I decided to create a page about a new tradition for our family. My grandson visiting Santa. It didn't go so well last year, so hopefully it won't be a short lived tradition!! I used the 'Holly Jolly' line from Simple Stories for this layout. For the background I applied watered down distress ink and then splattered some watered down gesso. You have to look very closely to see the gesso splatters so when I was finished I splattered some white colour shine. This is easier to see and also adds a bit of shimmer to the page. The greenery was cut out with dies from Sizzix and the snowflakes with dies from Spellbinders. Below are some close ups. Shine Bright

Hey everyone. I have my take on February’s Pick Your Side Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash for you today. I picked the left side of the sketch and using dies, cut circles from striped pattern paper. I used mixed alphas for the title. I have always wanted to use Shakespeare's little but fierce quote on a layout of my daughter, and this page about a crossfit competition was perfect. I used Photo Play's 'Paprika' collection. Hey everyone. It’s hard to believe September is here, so with the starting of school in mind, I decided to scrap my niece’s school photo from last year. For this month’s Golden Globe Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash, we were to create a grid layout. I decided to make mine a little uneven and overlap it a bit. For the stash portion of the challenge I fussy cut the white leaf wreath from a Prima transparency. I used Jillibean Soup's 'Farmhouse Stew' collection for this page. Explore

Hey everyone.  Here's a layout based on the first February 15th sketch at Stuck?!Sketches and the great outdoors February challenge at Scrap the Boys. The photo is of my daughter and grandson exploring around their farm and hanging with her horse, Hugo. Part of the challenge was to be inspired by the words explore, dream and discover, so I used explore for the title. I used another Jillibean Soup collection for this page, called 'Souper Celebration'.  Thanks for stopping by.

Best Friends

Hey everyone. I have another layout based on Stuck?!Sketches January 1st sketch and the snowflake challenge at The Studio Challenges. I used pattern papers, enamel dots and ephemera from Simple Stories 'Winter Wonderland' line. The snowflakes were cut using dies from Spellbinders.

For the background I applied gesso, and then watered down distress ink with a piece of packaging. After that dried I splattered some watered down water acrylic paint. I love how this turned out.

Oh Christmas Tree

Hey everyone. Got a layout for you based on three different challenges. At Scrap the Boys, the challenge was to use a picture of a multi-colored Christmas tree as inspiration. At The Studio Challenges, you were to use things that sparkled and shined. I also used the December 15th sketch at Stuck?!Sketches. From the picture I decided to go with a Christmas theme and to use a tree as a focal point on my page, which fit in perfectly with the sketch. For the sparkle and shine, I used tinsel color shine and strips of pattern paper that had a bit of glitter on it. I used an older collection from My Mind's Eye called 'Joyous'. I had several rolls of washi tape belonging to this line, so I decided to create a tree with them. It turned out quite well I think. I fussy cut the Santa and bluish snowflakes, as well as the small strips of paper with a glittery border. The photo is of my grandson getting his first look at a Christmas tree. Pretty sweet!! Hey everyone. I'm back with this month's sketch/word challenge at Scrap Our Stash. I'm absolutely loving the word part of these challenges as it makes me use up parts of my stash that I have forgotten about. I used Kaiser Craft's beautiful 'Wildflower' line for this layout. The flair button was from Cuts2Luv. The photo is of my niece. Our little Mouse is growing up way too fast!!! I used the following for the word part of the challenge:

T : thread
H : half pearls
A : amethyst coloured cardstock
N : Nestabilities ( hexagons )
K : Kaiser Craft
S : Seedless Preserves distress ink
