Beautiful

Hey everyone. I have a layout to share that's based on the July challenge at Cuts2Luv and the July 1st challenge at The Studio Challenges. The photos are of my niece on her way to the prom this year. She had to stop and pose with our dogs Beau and Rudy. So cute. I used PhotoPlay's 'Moments in Time' collection for this page. This line is so soft and pretty. The cutfile was from Paige Evans. I used distress oxides for the background and painted the cutfile with them as well. The stamp I used was from Hero Arts. The flowers were made with a flower punch and the white ones were also painted with distress oxide ink. For the Cuts2Luv challenge I used 3 elements from the mood board:

The sketch
Technique: Distress paper
Embellishment: Stamps

The challenge at The Studio Challenges was to use a big shape. I hope a big cutfile can be considered a big shape!! Below are some close ups and the mood board. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Times and Sunshine

Hey everyone. Hope you’re enjoying the summer so far. Hard to believe it’s the end of July. I have my take on the July blend a sketch challenge from Scrap Our Stash to share with you. I used Echo Park Paper's 'Good Day Sunshine' line for this layout of my grandson's first popsicle. It was the perfect collection to use. I couldn't resist fussy cutting a few popsicles from the pattern paper. For the background I first applied modelling paste through a stencil from Carta Bella. I then added watered down distress ink with a brush. Stamped circles, using a styrofoam cup, and splatters followed. For the challenge I replaced the three hearts on the right sketch with the photo arrangement and banner element from the left sketch. I also scattered sequins around the background. Love how it turned out and that I was able to use quite a bit of product from my stash. Close ups and the challenge are below. Thanks for stopping by.

So There's This Boy

Hey everyone. I have a layout based on the July challenge at Scrap the Boys. This month it's all about stars!!! I may have went a little crazy with them. I used Jillibean Soup's '2 Cool for School' collection for this page of my daughter and grandson. When I saw this journal card I knew I had to use it for my title. This little boy has definitely stolen a few hearts. I love the colors in this line. Navy and tourquoise, with pops of green, is a new fav. For the background I applied distress ink with the packaging technique. I then added the stars by using a stencil and blending tool. Splatters in all three colors followed. I punched out a number of stars from paper and also added some small wood veneer stars. Close ups are below. Thanks for stopping by.

XOXO

Hey everyone. Here's my take on July's sketch at Sketchabilities. I took these photos for fun one day, never intending to use them, but then decided why not. I definitely need to work on my selfie game though. For the background I used acrylic paint from Vicki Boutin (American Crafts). I first applied the pink using the packaging technique, and then the yellow by stamping with bubble wrap. The pattern paper, ephemera and kraft tags are from Fancy Pants' 'Sweet Nothings' collection. Below are some close ups and the sketch. Don't forget to check out the Sketchabilities blog. There's a ton of inspiration to be found. Thanks for stopping by.

Adventure Time

Hey everyone. I’m back with my take on this month’s Golden Globe Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash. The summer theme of this movie inspired me to create a layout of what I’m sure will be one of my grandson’s favourite activities this summer. He loves going to a nearby wildlife park. I think his favourite thing to watch are all the different birds. The photos are of his first trip this spring with some friends. We were to also include a sun on our layout, so using my Cameo I cut a sunburst. Before cutting the file, I coloured the cardstock with distress ink. I also stitched each sun ray and folded up the sides for some dimension. Really love how it turned out. I used Cocoa Vanilla Studio's 'You Rock' collection for this layout and some wood veneer from Simple Stories. This layout was also inspired by a sketch from Stuck?!Sketches. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by!!

All Boy

Hey everyone. A little late getting my post up for the June Blend a Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash. Once again I have a layout of my grandson. He's playing with a backhoe he received as a birthday present. He seems to be checking out every part of the toy which makes me think we could have a budding mechanic on our hands!! For the challenge I took the three photos and two pieces of pattern paper from the left sketch, and added it to the right sketch. I used star pattern paper and made my own star embellishments. To make the layered stars I added art crayons using the packaging technique to gessoed cardstock. I them stamped on the background and punched out two different sized stars. I then layered the pieces, adding a tiny star fussy cut from the pattern paper. Finally I machine stitched the stars together. I used pattern paper, chipboard stickers, accessory stickers and washi stickers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio's 'You Rock ' collection. This line is perfect for little boys!! Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned next month as Scrap Our Stash will have some new designers to inspire you.
