On the Move

Hey everyone. I have my take on this month’s Blend A Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash to share with you today. I used Echo Park Paper's ' Good Day Sunshine' collection for this page of my grandson exploring outside. This line is perfect for summer layouts. For the background I first applied modeling paste through a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop. I then applied watered down distress ink with the packaging technique and with a brush. Once dry I stamped some circles with a styrofoam cup. The flower clusters were fussy cut from pattern paper. The diagonal pinwheel strips inspired me to make actual pinwheels, with brads for the centers. For the challenge I took the sketch from the right, flipped it and placed it on the diagonal element from the left sketch. Loved how it turned out. For the arrow part of the challenge I added wood veneer arrows around the title. Below are some close ups and the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

Meet Beau

Hey everyone. Meet Beau! Beau is one of our new black lab puppies. A layout of his sister Ruby will follow soon. Beau's page is based on the second October sketch at Stuck?!Sketches. I used Simple Stories' 'So Rad' pattern paper and letter/word sticker sheet. For the background I used a star stencil from The Crafters Workshop. Using a couple of different sized plastic containers, I stamped the circles and then added some splatters. The wood veneer stars are from Studio Calico. When the page was first completed it was on white cardstock. I wasn't completely happy with it, so I carefully covered the pattern paper and picture, and sprayed some ink on the background. Much happier with the yellow.

Sketchabilities #117 / 123 Get Scrappy Challenge #11

Hey everyone. Here's my take on Sketchabilities sketch #117 and challenge #11 at 123 Get Scrappy. I LOVE all the beautiful blossoms in the spring and couldn't resist taking more pictures of the flowering crab tree in my brother's yard. I used the 'Primrose' paper line from Bobunny. For the background, using a stencil from The Crafters Workshop, I applied some distress paint. I then added the pattern papers, stitching and applied modeling paste using the same stencil. I dabbed some paint on my craft mat, added water and using a brush, flicked on some splatters.

The flowers were punched using the retro flower punch from EK Sucess. I used three different size punches. I punched several flowers, inked them with distress ink, misted them with water and crumpled them up. After they were dry, I carefully unfolded them, layered them and added pearls for the centers. I didn't mist the smallest ones as they seemed soft and damp enough after inking them. The piece of greenery was cut using Tim Holtz's greenery die from Sizzix.

  

 To finish things off I fussy cut some butterflies from pattern paper, added some lace from Maya Road and randomly scattered  more pearls over the layout. The title was cut using Tim Holtz's  'Vintage Market' die from Sizzix.

Creative Scrappers Birthday Bash

Hey everyone. Here's a layout created for Creative Scrappers Birthday Bash. I used pattern paper and letters from Basic Grey's 'Carte Postale' collection. Using stencils from The Crafters Workshop, I first applied modeling paste and then brushed on some distress ink. I dabbed the ink pad on my craft mat, spritzed water on it and using a brush applied the ink for a water color look. I folded some little triangles, attached some sequins and finished it off with some stitching.

Sketchabilities #115

 

 Hey everyone. Here's my take on Sketchabilities sketch #115. I used Prima's 'Stationer's Desk' paper line. I absolutely love this collection. It is sooo pretty. Using a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop, I  first inked and then applied some modeling paste. Once dry I inked the modeling paste and splattered some ink spray around the layout.

 

I used Spellbinder's 'Bitty Blossoms' dies to create the roses. The greenery was cut using Tim Holtz's new 'Garden Greens' die from Sizzix. A bit of stitching completed the page.

Sketchabilities #108

Hey everyone. Here's my version of Sketchabilities sketch #108. The pictures are of my daughter and her horse, Hugo, at their first jumping show. I was able to use scraps for this layout which is a first for me. The leftovers were from Echo Park Paper's 'For the Record' collection. For the background I sprayed some Antique Linen distress stain, dried it, then applied a thin coat of gesso over my brick stencil. Once this was dry I sprayed more distress stain, lightly wiping some of the stain off in spots. Once this was dry, I repositioned the stencil and applied some modelling paste for more texture. Once dry I added some distress ink to all the bricks. This is my first real attempt at stencilling a background with gesso/modelling paste, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I changed the angle of the pictures, compared to the sketch, because I didn't want to cover up all the bricks. The little heart was cut from cardboard and then covered with Distress crackle paint. My Mind's Eye May Sketch Challenge

Hey everyone. Here is my entry for My Mind's Eye May sketch challenge. I used the 6x6 pad of the 'Kate & Co' collection. Instead of little squares I decided to use hexagons. I also used a hexagon mask to add a bit of color. I stitched along the outside edge instead of journaling. I used distress inks and a water brush for the splatters.
